Last Will and Testament

The Last Will and Testament Of Thomas Saunders Copiah County, Mississippi Will Book AAA, Pp. 152 - 154

In the name of God amen I Thomas Saunders of Copiah County and State of Mississippi being of sound mind and memory thanks be to God for the same do make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following vis/ First - It is my wish that all my just debts be paid - Secondly: After all my just debts shall have been paid I give and bequeath unto my beloved Wife Biddy Saunders and my two children William Franklin Saunders and James Hamilton Saunders 560 acres of land being and lying in said county and whereon I now reside, twelve slaves, and all the residue of estate both personal and real to be equally divided among them and that my two sons above mentioned receive each Ten years education and in case my wife should again marry, then in that case I request that my estate be immediately divided and my children's property be hired out to the best advantage and good and competent guardians be appointed for them.

Thirdly and Lastly

I do hereby constitute and appoint my wife Biddy Saunders and William S. Lloyd my executrix and Executor to this my last Will and Testament - In Witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal this 11th day of March 1833.

One of the family trees in Ancestry.com has done extensive research on the Lloyd family and ends with Thomas A. Sanders (where my research begins). The transition from (maternal) Lloyd to (paternal) Saunders / Sanders is based primarily on that family tree entry, the The Last Will and Testament (from the same entry), and the 1830 U.S. Census in Missisippi.
