Bessie (Briscoe) Shook was the third wife of Joseph "Joe" Webster Shook, Sr. (my great-grandfather). While Bessie was the step-mother of my grandfather, Jesse Earl "Earl" Shook, she was the only mother Earl ever really knew and the grandmother of Earl's three sons. Bessie had several sons with Joe (half-brothers of Earl). Joseph Webster Shook, Jr. settled in the Midland-Odessa area of Texas area while Thorton Emmett "Emmett" Shook and Lloyd Shook, Sr. both settled in Southeast Texas.
