Notes
Andrew Jackson Whitney's mother was Gabrielle (Etie) Whitney. His uncle, John Jefferson Davis "Jeff" Etie, Sr., was married to Ada Melissa Shook (Artie Belle Shook's sister). Hence, it is quite possible that Andrew met Artie Belle Shook through family. In 1918, Andrew's WWI Draft card shows him in Goose Creek (Baytown), Texas. After that, Andrew apparently led the rest of his life in the Harris County, Texas area. The WWI Draft Card shows Andrew in the tank industry, which also corresponds to his occupation in the 1940 with his ex-brother-in-law Arthur Oscar Shook.
