Notes
Although the Shooks lived in Port Arthur, Texas, Effie delivered all three boys at Saint Joseph's Infirmary in Houston, Texas. As shown in the 1930 US Census below, Effie trained as a nurse at Saint Joseph's School of Nursing in Houston, Texas. That's probably why she kept going to Saint Joseph's to deliver her babies even when she was living in Port Arthur.
While Earl Shook was a Methodist, Effie introduced Catholicism into the Shook line.

Death Notice
Death takes Mrs. Shook
Mrs. Effie Agnes Shook of 3018 10th street, a 26-year resident of Port Arthur, died today in her home. Mrs. Shook had been in ill health about six months.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Clayton-Thompson-Stephens Funeral home.
She is survived by her husband, J. Earl Shook of Port Acres Pharmacy; three sons, J. Earl, Jr. Jan and Dean Shook, L.A. Giroir, and W.L. Giroir, and her mother, Mrs. Agnes Giroir, all of Baytown, and three grandchildren.
