Obituary

ODESSA Joe Shook, 54, of Midland, formerly of Odessa, died Thursday, July 19, 2007, at the Odessa Hospice House.

He was born August 11, 1952, in Odessa, Texas and graduated from Odessa High School in 1971. After being drafted into the U.S. Army in 1972, he served in Hawaii and upon discharge in 1974, he returned to Odessa where he began his employment with J&J Steel Company.

He is survived by his wife, Delisse, who he married June 16, 1979; their son, Joseph W. Shook, IV and his wife, Dee and grandchildren, Damion and Patrick, all of Midland; and their daughter, Michelle and her husband, Rex Chitty and grandchildren, Ryan, Cory and Cody, all of Odessa.

Joe is also survived by his mother, Vivian E. Shook, now 84 and from Odessa, and his brother, Colonel John E. Shook and wife, Linda from Mansfield, TX and their children, John Jr. and Aubrie.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph W. Shook Jr. in 1989.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 23, 2007, at Sunset Memorial Chapel, with Brother Ronnie Newton officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Marcus Thompson, Kevin Ballard, Jason Pence, Paul Carter, Doug Jamison and Jimmy H. Smith.

The family will receive visitors from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, July 22, 2007, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
