James L. Norris, 74, died Nov 28, 1944 in Waco. Services at Compton chapel, burial in Rosemound Cemetery.

Mr. Norris was born Jan 11, 1870 in Houston, moving to Bell County, TX as a child.

He and his father owned M. E. Norris cotton gin business, with gins in Bell, Falls and McLennan counties. In 1913 he moved to Waco and became a policeman until 1929. He opened Texas Floorsweep Co. and retired from there in 1940.

Survivors include: son, Jack Norris of Waco; daughter, Mrs. Dick Carneal of Waco; sister, Mrs. Frank T. Cox of Waco.
