Obituary (Vester)
Vester O. Shook, 42, resident of Pine Bluff and Lincoln county all of his life died Sunday night about 10 o'clock at the Army and Navy Hospital at Hot Springs where he had been undergoing medical attention for some time.
Mr. Shook was born April 21, 1897, in Lincoln County, near Garnett, son of the late Eratus Shook and Margaret Burr Shook, early Arkansas settlers.
He was a former employee of Cotton Belt Railway company and for a while was connected with the Sinclair Oil Company until he was forced to retire because of ill health.
He was a member of the Holly Springs Baptist church near Star City and was a World War veteran and a member of the local American Legion post.
In addition to his widow the former Miss Ada Owen of Palmyra, he is survived by a son Carroll Shook of Pine Bluff, a daughter Maurine Thompson of Harlington, Texas, a sister, Mrs. Virgie Cathcart of Pine Bluff and a number of other relatives.
