Death Notice (Hermit)

Hermit Shook, 81, died Monday, April 13, 1992, in a Wichita Falls hospital after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday in the Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Irl Holt officiating. Interment will be in Wilbarger Memorial Park. Shook was born July 23, 1910, in Decatur, Texas, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Shook. He married the former Louise Nev (sic) on Dec. 28, 1928, in Butler, Okla. He moved to Vernon from Altus, Okla., in 1965 and was a member of the Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. James Sullivan and Mrs. Gene Tyra, both of Vernon, and Mrs. Hoyt Hutchinson of Odessa; a sister, Nannie Pearl Murphy of Altus; a brother, Elzie Shook of Durant; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. The family will be at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m., and requests that memorials be made to the Parkinson Foundation.
