FUNERAL FOR MRS. BYNUM TO BE TODAY

Funeral services are being conducted today at the First Baptist church for Mrs. Artie Bynum of Quanah, a former resident, who died suddenly Tuesday.

Mrs. Bynum had been in ill health but was not considered critical. She and her husband had been to town and he returned to get some medicine. When he got back to the house at 103 Earl street, Mrs. Bynum was in the floor. Bynum said she was still breathing, but by the time a doctor arrived she had died.

Services are at 2:30 today with Rev. W E Norman, pastor of the First Baptist church of Quanah, officiating. Burial will be in the Eldorado cemetery with arrangements by Merritt-Washburn.

Assisting with pastor duties will be Rev. Bob Evans of Plainview, Tex.

Mrs. Bynum was born March 29, 1887 at Stevenson, Ala. She was married to J A Bynum October 9, 1907 at Weatherford, Tex. They came to Jackson County in 1918 and lived here until 1942.

She was a member of the Baptist church.

She is survived by her husband; two sons, Denzil of Eldorado and Dale of Roosevelt; two daughters, Mrs. G W Strawn of Eldorado and Mrs. Velma Hill of Santa Paula, Calif.; two brothers, Charlie Shook of Fort Worth and Hugh Shook of Lincoln, Ark.; two sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Ross of South Gate, Calif., and Mrs. M L Jones of Tulsa, and 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Bearers will be Woodrow Carreker, Audie Cummings, Charles McCollom, Collins Denton, Ewing Gunkel, Ralph Jones, Leslie Spradlin and Woody McCown.

Artie Bynum was born at Stevenson, Alabama. She married James Austin Bynum 9 Oct 1907 in Parker County, Texas. They were in Oklahoma by 1910 as Velma, their first child was born about 1910 in Oklahoma. Their other children were Denzel, Nova, and Dale. They moved to Quanah, Texas, in 1942. She died in Quanah, Texas.
