Mary Ann (Pate) Hormuth said that "the" Andrew Lidden PATE was her fathers father. Mary Ann is recorded in the 1933 Harris births as the daughter of Andrew L. Pate and Gale Carpenter. That means that Andrew L. Pate was the second. What's wierd is that the third is a junior. (Still trying to figure this out.)
Andrew grew up in Humble, Texas, where he graduated from high school in 1925. In the year 1928 he worked for Royal Dutch Shell in oil fields in Mexico. In 1929 Andrew went to work for Humble Oil & Refining Co. He married Gale Marie Carpenter on 11 September 1931. In 1944 Andrew left Humble Oil company. He and Gale bought her brother Roy Carpenter's grocery store in Refugio, Texas. -- findagrave.com
Gale was born in the family home located on the family dairy and truck farm operation near Humble, Texas. The dairy and farm were sold when she was 2 years old, and the family moved to town where Gale's father built a business building and operated a variety store in one area. Major Carpenter later owned and operated the dry goods store in the building. Gale graduated from high school and married Andrew Pate in 1931. She had 3 children - one, a son only lived a day. findagrave.com
