Given Name
Geo. J. Etie's death certificate records him as the son of J. D. Etie and Ada Shook. David Roy Etie's birth certificate records George Joysen as his father. It's a good assumption that Geo. J. is short for George Joysen. While the 1920 census records Emanuel J. as the son following Jeff Davis, Jr. and preceeding Clyde Webster, I am assuming Emanuel was a nickname at that time.
Birth
The 1920 census and David Roy Etie's birth certificate both record George Joysen's birth in Texas. In contrast, the informant (Mrs. Gladys Etie) on George Joysen's death certificate records birthplace as Sulpher, Louisiana. I have not been able to determine who Gladys Etie is yet. In David Roy's delayed birth certificate (1943), Elva (Conrad) Etie Blackburn records George Joysen's birth in Texas. Given that Elva was married to George Joysen and Gladys Etie is an unknown variable, I have decided to record George Joysen's birth place as Texas (probably Harris County).
Marriage
Between 1920 and 1925 in Texas to Elva CONRAD; born: 31-MAY-1910 in Texas; died: 27-APR-1999 in Galveston County, Texas; remarried William Charles BLACKBURN (17-JAN-1905 - 25-OCT-1990); father: Gerald William CONRAD (16-JAN-1880 - 01-JUL-1940); mother: Jewel Lelah PITTS (~1891 MS - ); SSN: 466-05-0897; Last residence: Houston, Harris County, Texas.
Children
- David Roy ETIE (27-NOV-1925 - 01-APR-1985)
Notes
George died in an automobile accident at age 27. The informant on the death certificate was Mrs. Gladys Etie. The name recorded on the death certificate was Geo. J. Etie.
