Obituary (Irena)

Irena Frances (Champion) Dycus Oct 29, 1869 - Mar 14, 1915

Sunday morning, March 14, 1915, At 11:20. after many days of patience and intense suffering, Mrs. Irene Dycus fell asleep, as we hope and sincerely believe, to awake in the resurrection in the likeness of Him who doeth all things well and who suffered, bled and died on the cross that we might have life, and that we might have it more abundantly.

She was the daughter of Mr. T. H. and Martha E. Champion, and was born in Mississippi October 29, 1869, moved to Texas in her girlhood and was married to W. T. Dycus September 16, 1897. She united with the Methodist church in 1869 and ever honored her profession by an upright walk and Godly conversation. It was the privilege of the writers to know her intimately for years and those true friends can say truly that they never had a better neighbor or a truer friend. She was always ready in sickness or when any one needed help.

She was a tender, faithful wife, a loving, devoted mother and a kind, charitable neighbor. She leaves a kind true husband and a daughter and son, Tossie and Walter, to mourn her death. We would say to them to look to the Lord who was her strength and stay, for help and consolation, trust him for salvation, and in the "sweet bye and bye" you will meet her in the land of rest beyond the skies.

This dear friend was buried in the Campbell cemetery in the presence of a large concourse of her friends who placed beautiful wreaths of spring flowers on her grave. After funeral services held by the Methodist minister from Purdon, Bro. Young. Weep not dear friends for our loss is heaven's gain. -- The Corsicana Daily Sun - Thursday, April 15, 1915
