Notes

William Buford Shook comes up occassionally on searches and he is listed in the Civil War section in Wilma Hicks Simpson's book. She lists William Buford as the son of Abraham; however, she also incorrectly ties that Abraham as the Tennessee Abraham who is not (in my opinion) Jacaob Shook's son. So at this time, I am assuming that William Buford Shook is the son of Abraham Shook (Tennesse) son of Johanne Hans George Shook son of Johannes Shook. Findagrave notes William Buford Shook's birthplace as Haywood County, North Carolina, which is very interesting as the North Carolina Abraham did not have a "William" as a son. (Hence, William Buford may not be the son of Abraham as Wilma Hicks Simpson notes, and, thus, not of the Tennessee Abraham line as the web site indicates.)
