Obituary

Leland Rogers Shook, 82, of Friendswood, Texas passed away on Monday, January 14, 2013. He was born on June 9, 1930 in McGehee, Arkansas to Norville (Mutt) Shook and Nell (Hagen) Shook.

He served 22 years in several branches of the Armed Services: Navy 1948-1949; Army 1950-1953 serving in the Korean War; Air National Guard 1953-1954; Retired as MSGT of the Air Force 1954-1972 from Ellington Air Force Base.

Leland was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 39 years Hazelle McCollum Shook; grandson, Shawn E. Ward.

He is survived by his wife Alice (Holbert) Shook; daughter, Karen Ward and husband Mark of Oak Point, TX; son, John Shook and wife Amie of Morristown, New Jersey; grandchildren, Adrian Shook of Nuremburg, Germany, Katye Turner and husband Chris, Jennifer Cox and husband Cory of Oak Point, Texas; 5 great grandchildren; sister, Ann Hazelbaker and husband George of Duncan, Oklahoma; numerous nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 18, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at the Jeter Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, Texas 77546 (281) 992-7200 with Rev. Jerry Stark officiating. A private interment will be held at the Houston National Cemetery at a later date.
