Obituary (Daniel)
Daniel Shook, 84, Confederate veteran, died at his home in Claremont Thursday morning. The funeral service will be conducted this morning (Friday) at the Claremont church with Rev. Mr. Miller officiating.
Mr. Shook was stricken with the paralysis some time ago and failed to recover. He was a prominent and highly esteemed citizen of his community. Through the many years of service he joined in many civic enterprises. He served in Company E in the Conferderate army.
Returning from the war, his life was a contribution to his community.
Mr. Shook is survived by his five sons and two daughters. His sons are Cull Shook, Charlie Shook, Wilburn Shook, Wade Shook, and Lester Shook; his daughters, Mrs. Cora Shook Little and Miss Lottie Shook.
His grandsons will serve as pallbearers and his granddaughters will act as flower girls. Roy Warren, walter Shook, Hubert Shook, Roy Shook, Oscar Shook and Lawrence Shook will be pallbearers. Annie Shook, Ruth Shook, Jessie Little, Neva Little, Nona Little, Mary Shook, Pearl Shook and Mary Nell Little will be the flower girls.

Obituary (Annie)
Mrs. Annie Camillia Shook, widow of D. J. Shook, of the Claremont community, was buried Wednesday afternoon at St. Marks Lutheran church cemetery at Claremont. Funeral services were held at 2:30 at the church, with Rev. J. L. Miller conducting the service. Mrs. Shook was born September 26, 1847, and is survived by five sons and three daughters. A. W. Shook made his home with his mother. Other sons are: W. S. and J. L. Shook of Claremont, and C. M. and C. C. Shook of Iredell County. Daughters of Mrs. Shook are Mrs. R. A. Yount and J. E. Little and Miss Lottie Shook, all of Claremont.
