Notes
Horace served in the Spanish-American War, which shows up in the census records and his headstone (Company B, Texas Infantry). According to U.S. National Homes for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers document, Horace, a Private, was wounded in 1899 with head and leg injuries. After being discharged, Horace lived in the Houston area and was admitted into the veteran's home in 1929 (where he shows up in the Leavenworth, Kansas census in 1930). At some point in the 1930s, Horace made his way to California where he died in Los Angeles.
One entry in Ancestry.com has Horace's given name as Charles Ernest Horace Etie. I have not found any sources to confirm that name. So it is just a note for now. Something to keep in mind.
